The long-planned James Street Cultural Precinct Stage 1a moved a step closer after Council formally agreed to enter into a funding agreement with Main Roads Western Australia at the June Council Meeting yesterday.

The Shire’s Environmental Services team are working full steam ahead in planting mode, ably helped by Esperance Tjaltjraak Native Title Aboriginal Corporation (ETNTAC) Ranger Teams and students from across our region.

Advocacy efforts reflect the Council’s role in representing community needs and ensuring local priorities are heard at all levels of government.

We are taking early action this winter to reduce bushfire risk through fuel reduction burns, firebreak maintenance, and community education. Residents are encouraged to prepare their properties, make a bushfire plan, and stay informed. Early action now means a safer, more resilient community when summer arrives.

The Building Services team at the Shire provides crucial information and advice for our community, and take their responsibility to ratepayers very seriously.

On 10 March 2025, the Shire of Esperance was made aware of a shark incident at Wharton Beach, Condingup. Our hearts go out to the family, friends and loved ones of the victim of this incident.

Treatments include replanting dune vegetation and protecting replanted areas with fencing.
