Who will Tell Esperance’s Story?

What’s an Esperance-region story only you can tell? Make sure it’s never forgotten - nominate for 50 Voices for 50 Years now!

The Esperance Museum has been collecting treasures for 50 years, but the greatest treasures of all - Your Stories!

As part of the Esperance Museum's 50-year celebration, we're looking for 50 voices to help tell the story of this incredible region. The adventures. The day-to-day moments. The local legends and the stories that start with "You'll never believe what happened..." and somehow get less believable as they go on. The stories that absolutely must be saved before they disappear into the great filing cabinet of forgotten history.

Fifty people will be professionally recorded as they share memories and experiences, preserving them for future generations.

But here's the catch - nominations close on 31 July, just over a week away!

Grab a cuppa and sit down to nominate yourself or someone you know. The online nomination form will set this project up for success, helping us learn a little about the wonderful person you're nominating, their connection to Esperance, the stories they might share, the events they've been part of, and why their voice needs to be heard. We'll also ask for contact details, and any other gems of information you'd like to pass on - and if a nomination isn't selected this time, no worries! Every nomination will be carefully recorded and kept on file. The Museum team are passionate about preserving as many local stories as possible and will keep looking for opportunities to capture more voices in the years ahead.

After all, Esperance has far more than 50 great stories - we're just getting started!

And please, share this with your friends, family, community groups, sports clubs, fishing mates and that person who always says "Nobody asked me!"

Because now we're asking.

Let's make sure the story of Esperance is told by the people who actually lived it - after all, they'll be much more interesting!
