Update - Esperance Library and VRC relocation

Published on Tuesday, 21 July 2026 at 12:05:15 PM

Shire staff have been busy preparing for the relocation of the Esperance Library and Volunteer Resource Centre, with planning well underway to minimise disruption and support a smooth transition for both services. A temporary location for the Volunteer Resource Centre will be announced shortly, and it is expected the move will be completed by mid-August.

The Noel White Centre at the Greater Sports Ground has been confirmed as the Library's temporary home. Moving the Library is a big job, with thousands of books, resources and equipment to relocate. The Library's Windich Street premises are expected to close in early September, with the temporary facility at the Noel White Centre scheduled to welcome visitors later that month.

While library staff are working hard to reduce any inconvenience to library users, in-person library services and facilities will not be available during the transition. By sharing this information early, we hope to give community members plenty of time to plan ahead. Throughout the move, the Library's digital collection, including e-books, e-magazines, audiobooks and streaming services, will remain available. If you'd like to make the most of these resources, our friendly Library team would be delighted to see you and help you get set up.
