The Esperance Museum is about to have another big weekend! Just when the Museum team might be hoping to catch their breath after the success of last weekend’s 50th Anniversary celebrations - with well over 1,000 people through the doors - they'll be off to the Esperance Show for another weekend of fun!
Located with the other Shire stalls in the Indoor Stadium, visitors will have another opportunity to take part in the popular You've Got Mail project at the Museum tent. Grab a You’ve Got Mail envelope and paper, and write a letter to the future – there will be a special letter box to pop it into – give your kids the experience of posting a letter!
While the 50 Voices for 50 Years and You've Got Mail projects are preserving stories to be unveiled in 50 years' time, the fun-filled Museum Mug Shot activity is focused on capturing a snapshot of our community right now. Participants can choose from a selection of question boards, share their answer and strike a pose for their very own Mug Shot - set against a backdrop of the Goods Shed in the 1970s, complete with the WA Government Railways car parked out front!
Whether it's revealing your favourite place in Esperance, sharing a treasured memory or simply joining in the fun, the activity will help create a unique record of our community in 2026. Museum staff will be happy to take photos on visitors' own devices, making it easy to take home a memorable keepsake from the Show.
A small selection of treasures from the 50 Things exhibition will also be on display, and visitors can even check out old news - taking home surplus copies of historic Esperance Express newspapers.
With history, nostalgia, creativity and plenty of family-friendly fun all in one place, the Museum tent is shaping up to be a must-visit destination at this year's Esperance Show. Don't miss your chance to be part of Esperance history in the making!
