Do you want to make Esperance a friendlier and more accessible place for everyone? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!
The Shire of Esperance is inviting local people to join the Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) Working Group. The Group brings together community members, Councillors, representatives from local organisations and Shire staff to find ways to make Esperance better and more welcoming, and improve access across the region.
Why should you join?
Your ideas are important.
The DAIP Working Group is a place to share your experience and ideas to help make Esperance more accessible.
You do not need special skills or experience. We welcome people who:
- Live with disability
- Care for someone with disability
- Work in the disability sector
- Support accessibility and inclusion
- Want everyone to have equal opportunities to take part in community life
If you want to help make Esperance better for everyone, you can join us.
What Does the Working Group Do?
The DAIP Working Group gives ideas and advice about how to help people with disability take part in the community.
Group members talk about things like:
- If it's easy for people to use Shire buildings and services
- What needs to be better
- How to help more people join community activities
- How to remove things that make it hard for people to use services and places
- How to help everyone understand why access is important
- What should be improved next.
You can share your ideas about how to make Shire services and places like beaches, parks, and the library easier for everyone to use.
In short, the aim of the Group is to make sure people with lived experience are heard when decisions about accessibility and inclusion are being made.
How to Join
Fill out the Council Committee and Working Group Nomination Form and send it in one of these ways:
- Email: shire@esperance.wa.gov.au
- Post: PO Box 507, Esperance WA 6450
- In person: Drop the form off at the Shire Administration Building, Windich Street.
Please note: Sending in a nomination does not mean you automatically join the Working Group. The Shire will choose members based on eligibility and what the Group needs.
