Improving Local Roads and Footpaths

Shire contractors are back in town and getting stuck into asphalting works to improve our roads and footpaths. This year’s program has come with its challenges due to fuel supply uncertainties, but we’re pleased to say it’s now up and running.

Thank you in advance for your patience while works are underway, and for looking out for the many people who work hard to keep our roads safe and well maintained for everyone. We know the Esperance community spirit shines through in situations like this - especially when it comes to slowing down, keeping an eye out in work zones, and making sure there are no close calls or near misses. Please follow the directions of our traffic controllers and take extra care in reduced speed areas.

 Upcoming works include:

  • Fisheries Road / Goldfields Road intersection – lane closures will be in place
  • Pink Lake Road – full road closures with detours available
  • Castletown Quays – footpath completion works
  • Parmango Road (CBH entries) – subject to time in the schedule, with traffic control in place
  • Old Netball Court – profiling and gravel recovery works, with existing materials reused on another project to help cut costs. This area will soon be ready for new sporting activities

After months of planning, this year’s asphalting program will use around 1,605 tonnes of asphalt, with a dedicated traffic management team on-site to help keep everyone safe. Access to properties will be maintained wherever possible, and our friendly traffic controllers will help you through as soon as it’s safe to do so - give them a friendly wave as you pass by!

Thanks again for your patience and cooperation as we work to improve our community infrastructure.
