Public Notice - Hazard Reduction Activity - Road Reserve
Attention residents and visitors of Esperance: Volunteers and staff The Shire of Esperance and Bush Fire Brigades will be conducting hazard reduction burning activities on River Road west of Cascade Townsite.
PURPOSE: To reduce overall fuel loads to approximately 5-7 tonnes per hectare and establish a low-fuel buffer zone to mitigate the risk of running fires impacting the Cascade Townsite.
DATE: Between 17 September — 17 October 2025 (as weather permits)
LOCATION: Road Reserve southern side of River Road, Cascade WA 6450.
WHAT TO DO DURING AND AFTER HAZARD REDUCTION ACTIVITIES
River Road will be closed during operations
Motorists are asked to turn on their headlights when driving through the area.
Please follow all directions given by firefighters and emergency services personnel on site.
Smoke may impact visibility and air quality in and around the Cascade Townsite on the day of the burn and in the days following. Residents and visitors with respiratory conditions are advised to keep their medications with them or nearby as a precaution.
Firefighters will carry out periodic patrols of the area in the days following the burn.
