Your Statement of Rights Under the New Aged Care Act
The new Aged Care Act is rights-based, meaning it prioritises your autonomy, safety, and cultural respect. The Statement of Rights ensures you are empowered when seeking or receiving aged care.
Key rights include:
- Making your own decisions about your life and having them respected.
- Receiving information and support to help with decision-making.
- Communicating your wishes, needs, and preferences freely.
- Feeling safe and respected at all times.
- Having your culture and identity honoured.
- Staying connected to your community.

Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards
Starting 1 November 2025, the strengthened Quality Standards will replace the current ones, focusing on measurable, high-quality care across areas like food and nutrition, dementia support, diversity, governance, and clinical care. These standards ensure providers like us deliver person-centred services that are safe, effective, and continuously improving.
Key updates include clearer language, reduced duplication, and a stronger emphasis on involving you in your care decisions.
