Nominations for the 2023 Local Government election closed Thursday 7 September 2023, and the ballot draw was held.

The Town Ward has 3 positions vacant and 5 nominations were received. For the first time, electors will vote for the position of Shire President. 2 nominations were received for this position.

The Rural Ward had 2 vacancies with 2 nominations. On Friday 8 September 2023, the WA Electoral Commission Returning Officer declared Cr Wes Graham and Samantha Starcevich as Councillors for the Rural Ward. They will be sworn in following the October elections.

The WAEC advised the Returning Officer that as Wes Graham was drawn first in the ballot draw, he is elected for a 4 year term, with Samantha Starcevich being elected for a 2 year term, meaning there will be no need for a Rural Ward election this year.

Ballot Papers for the Town and Shire President positions will be delivered to mailboxes from Friday 15 September. Please take the time to number who you want in these positions.
