Your Community, Your Vote – Enrol Today

The Shire of Esperance is holding its local government elections on Saturday, 18 October 2025, and your vote can help shape the future of our community. Whether it’s better roads, parks, or local services - every vote counts. Voting is easy and done by mail so you can cast your vote from the comfort of your home. Just make sure you're correctly enrolled by 5:00pm, Friday, 22 August 2025, to have your say.

Who Can Vote?

You can vote if you:

  • Are enrolled on the State Electoral Roll
  • Live in the Shire of Esperance, or
  • Own or lease property in the Shire (even if you live somewhere else)

If You Live in Esperance

You're automatically enrolled if you're on the State Electoral Roll by 22 August.
If you’ve moved recently or haven’t enrolled yet, make sure you update your details: Enrol to Vote | Western Australian Electoral Commission

If You Own or Rent Property in Esperance but Live Elsewhere

You may still be able to vote by joining the Owners & Occupiers Roll.

To qualify, you must:

  • Be on the State or Commonwealth Electoral Roll
  • Own or lease rateable property in the Shire of Esperance
  • If renting, have a legal right to occupy the property for at least 3 months.

Enrolment forms are available on the Shire’s website and must be submitted to the Shire CEO by 5:00pm Friday, 22 August 2025.

Joint Owners and Businesses

If a property is owned or leased by two or more people, the majority can nominate two people to vote on their behalf. These people must be on the electoral role or the Owners & Occupiers Roll.
Corporations can also nominate two eligible voters.
