Councillors and Shire staff are heading to Scaddan this month for the annual regional Council Meeting, bringing local government closer to our satellite communities. The September Ordinary Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday 30 September at the Scaddan Country Club, with a few changes to the usual schedule.
This year’s meeting falls on the fifth Tuesday of the month rather than the fourth, allowing Councillors to attend the 2025 WALGA Local Government Convention.
Events at the Scaddan Country Club kick off at 2:00pm with a Community Meeting, a great chance for locals to share their thoughts, ideas and concerns directly with Councillors and the Shire Executive team. At 4:00pm the formal Council Meeting begins - an opportunity to see your local government in action and learn how decisions are made. The evening wraps up with a community dinner, catered for by the wonderful Mallee P&C and providing a relaxed setting to chat with Councillors, Shire staff and neighbours.
Regional Council Meetings are a vital part of Council’s commitment to transparency, accessibility and engagement. They give residents who may not usually attend meetings in town the chance to connect with decision-makers, raise local issues, and contribute to shaping the future of their community. Last year’s meeting in Grass Patch sparked lively discussions and led to valuable suggestions, helping Councillors in their decision making.
Councillors will arrive fresh from the WALGA Convention, a key event giving Councillors the opportunity to gain valuable insights, represent and advocate for the community. They will bring back knowledge from expert-led workshops, sector-wide collaboration, and direct engagement with state-level decision makers. The Convention’s focus on innovation, sustainability and long-term community outcomes equips Councillors to lead with vision, advocate effectively for our region, and build connections to help shape a stronger future for Esperance.
So spread the word - bring your neighbours, friends and family. Everyone is welcome at the Scaddan Country Club on 30 September - let’s come together to connect, share and shape the future of our region!
