Community Alert: Suspected Poisoning of Pigeons at Taylor St Jetty

Published on Wednesday, 15 October 2025 at 11:12:01 AM

The Shire of Esperance has responded to reports of deceased pigeons and scattered grain at Taylor St Jetty. Several birds in poor condition were collected from the beach, which was busy at the time. The grain has been secured and will be sent for testing.

At this stage, it is suspected that the pigeons may have been poisoned. The Shire urges the community to take the following precautions:

  • Avoid contact with any dead birds.
  • Keep children and pets away from affected areas.
  • Keep dogs on a lead when walking.

The Shire reminds residents that pest control should only be carried out by licensed professionals. Taking such actions independently can endanger public safety and animal welfare.

We appreciate your cooperation as we investigate further.
