Restricted Burning Time for all Zones

Pursuant to Section 18 Bush Fires Act 1954 the Shire of Esperance advises Restricted Burning Time will commence Friday, 29 September 2023 for ALL zones.

Landowner/occupiers now must obtain a Fire Permit from their nearest Fire Control Officer before any hazard reduction activities or burning off can commence.

A contact list of Fire Control Officers and Fire Permit Issuing Officers can be founded on the Shire website under Bushfire Information.

Permit Holders are reminded they must:

  • Abide by all other conditions prescribed by the issuing Fire Control Officer; and,
  • Contact the issuing Fire Control Officer prior to igniting; and
  • Contact DFES Communications Centre Ph: 08 9395 9209 to log your burning permit prior to igniting; and
  • Fire Conirol Officers reserve the right not to issue Fire Permits based upon the permit holders’ abilities and/or local conditions within their brigade area.
  • Permit Holders are reminded that fire permits are deemed invalid on days where the Fire Danger Rating is “HIGH” or above, as forecast by the Bureau of Meteorology.

Please note Fire Permits can be suspended or cancelled at any time by any Fire Control Officer based upon local conditions or forecast weather conditions.
