Our Council is made up of nine Elected Members including the Shire President.  The Councillors represent the residents from the two electoral wards of Esperance - Town and Rural.  The Councillors are elected by the ratepayers and residents of the district with elections held every two years and each Councillor serving a four year term.

Electoral Ward Boundaries

The Shire of Esperance is divided into two wards, a Town and a Rural ward. 

Ward Review

The Shire of Esperance is conducting a review of its wards and representation and invites public participation in the review.

Ward boundaries and the number of councillors for each ward will be considered as part of this review.

A copy of the discussion paper is available here or a hard copy can be requested at the Administration Building on Windich Street.

Any person wishing to make a submission in relation to this matter must do so by 4pm 18 September 2020 to the Shire of Esperance, Windich Street, Esperance WA 6450.

Elected Member Training

Pursuant to Section 5.127 of the Local Government Act 1995:

(1) A local government must prepare a report for each financial year on the training completed by council members in the financial year.

(2) The CEO must publish the report on the local government’s official website within 1 month after the end of the financial year to which the report relates.
