IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE?: A MODERN FAIRYTALE FOR ANYONE WHO’S EVER FELT ALONE

What happens when the fairy-tales we tell our children meet the realities of modern love and family life? Is There Anybody Out There?, the final part of The Blind Eye Trilogy, invites audiences into a preschool classroom where six parents rehearse the legend of Tristan and Isolde—until real life interrupts and the conversation turns to an electric battle about gender roles, the very meaning of love, and the grim side of the fairy-tale.

Looking for a show that will move you, lift you up, and remind you what community really means? Is There Anybody Out There? is a celebration of love, hope, and the ties that keep us going—even when life gets tough. Director and writer Amanda Crewes says, “We’ve seen audiences walk in as strangers and leave as a community. That’s the real magic—people realise they’re not alone in what they’re feeling.”.

Inspired by the epic tale of Tristan and Isolde, this play mixes ancient romance with today’s search for belonging. It’s funny, moving, and full of the kind of moments that stay with you long after the curtain falls.

With suicide prevention and mental health topping WA’s political and social agenda, Is There Anybody Out There? is more than catharsis—it’s a lifeline. It asks every audience member: Who have you overlooked? Who might be reaching out, right now, for help or hope?

“Every time we perform, someone tells us, ‘That’s my family. That’s my story. Thank you for saying it out loud.’ That’s why we keep touring,” Crewes shares.

The play invites us to look past the fairy-tale and face the reality of what we teach our kids about love, gender, and belonging. “Is There Anybody Out There? invites us to look past the fairy-tale and face the reality of what we teach our kids about love, gender, and belonging,”
Crewes adds.

Every audience member is invited to join the conversation after the show—because connection doesn’t stop at the stage. “It’s not just theatre—it’s a prompt for real change. I love seeing people stay afterwards, talking long into the night, because the story’s just begun.”

Whether you come with friends or by yourself, you’ll leave knowing you’re part of something bigger. Don’t miss your chance to see the show that’s bringing WA together, one story at a time
