Pursuant to Section 3.12 of the Local Government Act 1995, the Shire of Esperance proposes to make the Extractive Industries Local Law 2024.

The purpose of the Extractive Industries Local Law 2024 is to:

  • Prohibit the carrying on of an extractive industry unless by authority of a licence issued by the local government;
  • Regulate the carrying on of the extractive industry in order to minimize damage to the environment, roads and other peoples’ health and property; and
  • Provide for the restoration and reinstatement of any excavation site.

The effect of the Extractive Industries Local Law 2024 is to ensure any person wanting to carry on an extractive industry is licenced and complies with the provisions of the local law.

Copies of this Local Law can be obtained from the Shire of Esperance Administration Office, Windich Street Esperance, between the hours of 8.30am and 4.45pm, Monday to Friday, or from the Shire of Esperance website here.
