Roads

The Shire is responsible for the maintenance and renewal works for 4,573.5km of road consisting of 3,698.3km of unsealed roads and 875.2km of sealed roads.  Works are prioritised based on a number of criteria including traffic volumes, usage and condition.

Our road network represents a vast investment over many generations that supports modern living in our community. Millions of dollars are spent annually managing and maintaining the network and it is imperative that we employ the best management skills and practices to ensure that related services are delivered economically and sustainably.

Improving the management of road infrastructure can bring major benefits by ensuring that scarce resources are used in a cost effective manner.

Asset Management is responsible for the construction and maintenance of infrastructure assets including roads, footpaths and signage.  Residents should report to the works department any damage to roads, footpaths and cycle-ways, broken or missing direction signs and obstructions to ensure that prompt repairs may be undertaken.
