Bushfire Update - 27th December 2023

The Shire of Esperance participated in an incident update meeting with the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) and other stakeholders today.

Updates as of 1pm, Wednesday 27 December 2023:

DFES is managing the incident known as Ned’s Corner, which started at the south end of Neds Corner Rd, Coomalbidgup. Volunteer Bush Fire Fighters are providing support on site.

Shire of Esperance is managing fires at Fields Road & Ridley, which are being monitored by local bush fire brigades. A fire at Buraminya is being remotely monitored.

Firefighters are working to contain fires.

Horizon Power are in the Coomalbidgup area replacing poles and restoring power to the area. Please see the Horizon Power Facebook page for updates.

This is a traumatic incident for all involved, as well as the wider community. Support is available, with the DFES wellness team expected in the Esperance Region from Thursday offering free services to all volunteer firefighters and their families.
