After much work and planning, the Bay of Isles Leisure Centre (BOILC) aquatic filtration plant room is about to receive an essential maintenance upgrade.

The aquatic area closure commences Saturday 2 July and will reopen Monday 25 July 2022. Rest easy, all of your dry area favourites will still be open, check out what’s available here.

The project involves replacing the condensing gas boilers with electric heat pumps, and installation of a new control panel to ensure that the plant is efficient, reliable, safe, and meets the WA Aquatic Code of Practice. New variable speed drive pumps and other efficiencies will deliver value for money to rate payers and align with the Shire’s sustainable energy use targets.

COVID disrupted the original scheduling for the project, when no tenders were received for the work due to business uncertainty at the time. It is a testament to the skills and knowledge of current Shire staff that departments have been able to utilise the skills and experience needed for this complex project, after months of planning, research, and visiting other leisure centres to see best practice equipment and processes in operation.

Members have been contacted via email with membership options during the closure period. If you have any queries contact the friendly BOILC staff on 9083 1700 or by emailing boilc@esperance.wa.gov.au.
