The Shire of Esperance is in the process of updating their Trails Master Plan, the goal of the Plan is to guide the Shires future direction of Trail redevelopment and aid in budgetary decisions. The Plan will also promote and encourage recreational tourism and promote health and well-being within the community. The Trails Master Plan will assess existing conditions of the current trails and paths and provide recommendations and priorities for new trails for the next 20 years.
It is becoming increasingly important for communities to be involved in the design and plan of trails so that they are most beneficial to the users, be they locals or tourists. The Shire of Esperance is asking the community for engagement and feedback on where they would like to see improvements to existing paths and trails; also suggestions for new equestrian trails, tracks and paths to be located within their Shire.
The Shire is using an interactive map to allow the general public to give their input. We are encouraging the community to brainstorm ideas, list concerns and provide any other valuable input to help shape the Master Plan in order to improve the overall quality of the trail system and meet the current needs of the community. Whilst we have included the existing and proposed cycle paths, the creation of these paths will be progressed separately and in accordance with the Department of Transport / Esperance 2050 Cycling Strategy.

The public consultation closes Friday 2 October 2020.
