Following on from the meeting last week, the Shire is currently waiting on recommendations from the Heritage Council on suitably qualified and experienced Heritage Architects. A scope of works will be sent out requesting a viability report on Option 1: a jetty reconstruction based on the 1935 design that will incorporate new and old usable material, ensuring the structure meets current design standards and that the heritage values are maintained. The viability report will include a fully costed project with whole of life costs and timeframes. This will determine whether reconstruction is feasible, prudent and something the Esperance community can afford. Option 2: Replacement will not commence until the feasibility of Option 1 has been determined and a decision made by Council.
