The Shire’s new Multi-Wheel/Smooth Drum Combination Rollers have arrived! This huge piece of machinery is towed behind a grader while performing grading work on gravel roads. It compacts freshly graded gravel road which helps to ensure smoothness and durability.
These rollers each weigh 14 tonnes, which is heavier than our old rollers at 8 tonnes. The new rollers will replace 60-year-old rollers and will help with rural road maintenance. The Shire spends $2.8 million annually on rural road maintenance.
