Water Grant

The Shire of Esperance has received $998,643 to replace 8km of aged irrigation pipework on the Eastern Suburbs Water Scheme. There were 18 applications and the Shire of Esperance was one of three grants announced on Tuesday.

Shire President Victoria Brown said Minister for Water Mia Davies had commented that it was the quality of the application that helped secure this funding.

“We’ve got highly skilled staff putting in our grant applications and this is paying off with the success that we are seeing,” Cr Brown Said.

This will replace antiquated equipment and reduce the maintenance costs of supplying water to areas including the turf club, the golf club, Castletown Primary School and parks and reserves.

“We are a water wise and proactive council always looking for ways to reduce our impact on the environment and pass on cost savings to our ratepayers,” Cr Brown said.
