The Department of Fire and Emergency Services, the Shire of Esperance and Pink Lake Brigade held a Community Bushfire Preparedness Street Meet on Saturday the 9 December in Pink Lake. Over 30 Pink Lake residents attended this community-get-together to find out more about how best to prepare their properties for bushfire. The Street Meet was well timed as there was a bushfire caused by lightning two days later.

The street meet provides a great opportunity for people to gain practical skills and knowledge that relates more specifically to their area and to meet their local brigade and neighbours. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services, the Shire of Esperance and Local Bush Fire Brigades plan to hold further Street Meets next year.

To find out more information if a bushfire starts in your area go to Emergency WA  or 13 DFES (13 3337) or the Shire of Esperance.
