As part of Council’s commitment to provide quality sporting facilities in Esperance, in line with the Asset Management plan detailed in the Corporate Business Plan, new reticulation systems have been installed at two of town’s sporting ovals.
Large sporting grounds were prioritised following an audit of all of Council’s irrigated sites and, after last year’s upgrades at the Greater Sports Ground, Esperance Oval and Newtown Oval have also had their systems replaced.
The process of replacing the systems involves designing them to meet current best practices, ensuring a sufficient water source, and the installation of pipe works, valves and sprinklers. The reticulation system is then connected to the central control facility which monitors system performance, locates faults and reports on water usage.
Sporting groups have been asked to avoid heavy use of Esperance Oval and Newtown Oval in the coming weeks to allow the grass to settle and build up some strength before the football season begins.
