Your Council wants to hear from you! Community input is vital in providing strategic direction for Council to utilise in the decision making process.  Community opinion is sought on the draft Public Open Space Strategy as we seek to prioritise Shire resources and promote higher quality open space areas for all users.

The draft Public Open Space Strategy is available HERE.

The purpose of the Public Open Space Strategy is to identify the current provision of public open space and make recommendations for the future.  This strategy was drafted by reviewing what service levels are currently offered and what future expectations will demand.  Four focus group sessions were held, including older adults, caregivers, young people and people with disabilities. An online survey was also conducted and the information obtained from these engagement activities was used to assist in the development of strategy.

Comments and suggestions on the draft Public Open Space Strategy must be in writing and addressed to the Chief Executive Officer.  All submissions can be emailed to or mailed to the Shire of Esperance, PO Box 507 ESPERANCE WA 6450. All submissions must be received by the close of business 21st May 2014.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Shire office on 9071 0666 if you would like to discuss the strategy with a shire officer.
