The landscaping work of the Waterfront Project is underway and contractor Sime Building and Construction has erected fencing along the foreshore.

The fence marks the boundary of the worksite and the screening is to minimise the amount of sand blowing around.

The entire area has been fenced off because infrastructure beneath the foreshore needs to be worked on simultaneously. This control of the site will also enable Sime to complete the work as efficiently, quickly and inexpensively as possible.

Excavation work for the extensive retaining walls, ramps and stairways has commenced at James Street, and is protected from wave action by a reusable sand bag wall. Bulk earthworks are expected to start soon on the Tanker Jetty headland.
