There was much splashing and laughing as Esperance supported RadioWest’s annual ‘Toss the Boss’ fundraiser at the foreshore on Tuesday. Shire of Esperance President Malcolm Heasman and Chief Executive Officer Matthew Scott joined a host of other local bosses that braved the cool winter weather and volunteered to be pushed off the James Street Jetty to raise money for charity.

Over $6,000 was raised by Tuesday and a quiz night to raise further funds will take place tonight. Money raised will go to Give me 5 for kids, a charity that supports hospitals caring for sick children.

Shire of Esperance staff that donated entered into a draw to be the person who pushes the boss off the jetty. Director of Community Services Rod Hilton and Manager of Planning Services Peter Stanley had their names drawn and relished the opportunity to toss their bosses off the jetty. Donation tins were also available to the community at the service counter in the Shire Administration Office.
