Nominations for 2021 will open in September 2020 

The Australia Day WA Community Citizen of the Year Awards enable local governments to recognise local community champions.

The Awards reward and recognise individuals and community organisations that have made a noteworthy contribution during the current year, and/or give an outstanding service over a number of years, to a local community through active involvement - over and above normal employment duties.

Outstanding contribution and community service can include areas such as; education, health, fundraising, charitable and voluntary services to business; sport; the arts; the environment; or any other area that contributes to the advancement and well being of our community.

There are four categories: 

  • Esperance Citizen of the Year;
  • Esperance Citizen of the Year - Senior (aged 65+);
  • Esperance Citizen of the Year - Youth (aged 16-25) and;
  • Esperance Active Citizenship (Community Group or Event)

Nominations open on the 1 September close on 31 October each year. All nominees will be recognised at an Australia Day ceremony.

Nominations can be made online at (e-form) or via a downoadable form which can be emailed to or returned to the Shire Administration Building.
