You may have noticed the roundabouts in town undergoing some changes. The changes were undertaken to help improve safety and sight distance at roundabouts. The Shire was regularly repairing the brick walls that would get hit and they are now inline with design standards and are better suited to our road alignments. The new low profile central islands are designed for semitrailer turning movements and are a more cost effective solution. The projects were budgeted for and approved by Council last financial year. Gardens inside are regularly maintained which may appear as though capital works is occurring when we are busy keeping them neat and tidy. Recent community engagement highlighted streetscapes were important to our community, they need to be visually appealing while reducing our reliance on water and maintenance, this is why native Esperance vegetation has been used. The roundabouts in the Town Centre are vital in keeping traffic moving through intersections safely – for both vehicles and pedestrians.
