Council have agreed to trial new weekend hours at the Wylie Bay Waste Facility, to commence from the first weekend in July, to accommodate the changing usage patterns of the community.

The number of public visits to dispose of waste over a weekend is low, averaging less than 5 an hour, with the visits predominately towards the middle of the day. The twelve week trial will see opening hours reduced to 12 noon to 4pm. Information is collected on the number and time of visits thanks to the new point of sale system installed at the Waste Site.

CEO Matthew Scott said “Council and Shire officers have identified a potential efficiency that can be made to the Wylie Bay Waste service with minimal impact on the community. This trail will run for a period of 12 weeks with a full analysis provided to Council on its completion. We welcome community input during the process to determine the full impact on customers and to make sure we maintain a high satisfaction level for this service.”

Warren Blackwood Waste will have continued access to the site to empty bulk bins, ensuring no impact to their schedules.

The new trial hours for the Wylie Bay Waste Facility, commencing 2nd July, will be Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm (unchanged) and Saturday and Sunday Noon to 4pm.
