For the 2015 local government postal elections, the Western Australian Electoral Commission has modified, in consultation with the AEC, the information included on the back of the Elector’s Certificate (attached to the ballot paper envelop).

This is only directed at people whose enrolment details printed on the front of the certificate have changed or are incorrect in some way. If fully completed, the revised format and wording enables both commissions to update an elector’s enrolment on the State and Commonwealth electoral rolls.

Unfortunately, it appears that it is causing a degree of confusion for some electors who have been enquiring as to whether they are required to complete this part of the certificate.

The information on the back of the certificate need only be completed when an elector wishes to update or correct their enrolment details.

The Commission has today issued a media release clarifying the information.
