                    Waste and Recycling Information

The Council operates a refuse tip on Wylie Bay Road approximately 10kms from the townsite. Opening hours are 8am – 4pm 7 days/week. The site is closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Good Friday and may be closed on days with high wind.

You must have a ‘ Domestic Waste Limited Entry Pass ’ or pay a fee to enter the tip. Waste passes are issued free of charge annually with rate notices.

 

 

 

Recycling at Wylie Bay Waste Transfer Station

Metals
· Ferrous scrap metals (metals with iron in them) like fencing wire, steel piping and car bodies.
· White goods like fridges, stoves and washing machines.

These products are collected for recycling by Perth-based scrap metal dealers.
· Non-ferrous metals (metals that do not contain iron) like stainless steel and aluminium.

Car Batteries
* Car batteries are collected for recycling by scrap metal dealers.
* Mobile phone batteries and other rechargeable batteries are collected in a basket near the office at Wylie Bay .

Oil
* Used oil is collected in the green oil recycling tank at the Wylie Bay tip site. Please clean up any spillage.
* The stored oil is collected by an Oil Recycler.
* Oil filter recycling bins (200L) are available through Wren Oil @ $90 per bin + GST. Contact Terry Baker – 0428 100784

Tyres
* Tyres are collected at Wylie Bay .

The following fees are applicable. The charges are in place to enable the tyres to be processed for recycling.

Green Waste
Green waste is all garden trimmings and prunings as well as lawn clippings.
Clean, separated green waste can be deposited at Wylie Bay Landfill site . At present;
* Lawn clippings are separated for mulching.
* Tree prunings are stock piled. It is hoped in the near future to process green waste on site for the production of mulch and other garden products.
